Op 14-15 mei en 18-19 juni organiseert Rootlink een masterclass voor professionals in de stedelijke vernieuwing over burgerparticipatie.
De masterclass City Stories brengt twee belangrijke werelden bij elkaar: theorie en praktijk. Aan de hand van het onderzoek van Hendrik Wagenaar (Universiteit Leiden) en Maurice Specht
(NSCR) behandelen we enkele actuele thema’s rondom burgerparticipatie, zoals:
• wat is de veranderende rol en opvatting over actief burgerschap en haar plaats binnen stedelijke vraagstukken.
• hoe ontstaat de capaciteit om te participeren en hoe ontwikkel je dat.
• hoe komen duurzame samenwerkingsverbanden tot stand die ook tot concrete resultaten leiden.
• welke kansen zijn er bij het organiseren van bijeenkomsten tussen bewoners, professionals en beleidsmakers.

Photographer Joop Reijngoud worked with Linda Malherbe over two years to record 155 groups living in South Rotterdam. The work led to a book and an exhibition on the water front – opened by the Queen of the Netherlands.

Hello, I’m Margua Helfrich.  I’m the secretary of the Morgenstond Citizens Organisation in The Hague and I think it’s a nice idea to start a blog in which our neighbourhood will be presented. What do you think? Shall I do it or not?  I myself think it’s a good medium for everyone.

Biotop are artists who turned up in Dortmund for 6 weeks to explore new “Practices of engagement: lessons in democratic listening”. Some people came and told stories, other took photos, other shot video. At least one asked “do you have beer?.  Watch this video from the artists on what R4R means to them and how they try to allow open conversations to flourish:
